Bangla Tafsir was launched in 2017 by Professor Dr. Anisur Rahman, a retired faculty member of Dhaka University's Bangla Department. After 30 years teaching Bangla linguistics, Dr. Rahman saw that quality Bangla educational content was almost non-existent online — especially for diaspora communities whose children were losing connection with the language.
Today our team of 28 contributing scholars produces structured courses, audio lessons, and literary commentaries used by community schools in London, New York, Toronto, and Sydney — as well as by 120,000+ monthly readers across Bangladesh.
Feedback from learners in Bangladesh and around the world.
"My daughter was born in London and could barely read Bangla. After 6 months using Bangla Tafsir's heritage speaker course, she can now read Nazrul's poems. This website saved our family's connection to our language."
"As a Bangla teacher at a community school in Queens, I use Bangla Tafsir's grammar lessons as my primary teaching resource. The exercises are well-structured and the audio is invaluable for pronunciation."
"The literary commentaries are outstanding. Dr. Rahman's analysis of Jibananda Das brought me back to my university days in Dhaka. This is serious, quality scholarship — available free. What a gift."
